Joe Mazumdar – Investing In Resource Stocks; Financing Environment, Portfolio Strategy, Optionality Plays, 2024 Newsflow Outlook

December 13, 2023

Joe Mazumdar, Editor of Exploration Insights joins us to discuss the state of the markets for resource stocks, focused on the exploration to development stage companies.

We start by discussing the financing environment which has remained very difficult for companies the majority of this year. We ask Joe how he thinks development plays should finance to keep existing shareholders happy and not give away the future of the company.  He also shares how he is managing his portfolio of exploration stocks considering how important capital is at this time. We also discuss optionality plays, where the asset is marginal at today’s prices and cost environment.

    New Issue of Concern:
IBKR has put many OTC US stocks into a closing-only condition …and when you attempt to convert USD to CAD, despite showing USD in the “settled and available” category, they are treating the USD as unsettled until actually settled.
This seems to show a grave concern with OTC trades.

OTC listed stocks are derivatives, that should give anyone cause for concern. DT

You are right. I should have relied on Canadian Regulators instead of a Brokerage Firm … or maybe the SEC or Justice Or Canadian Mounties … or the Lithuanian Free Markets support fund.
Going to see what Johnny Cochran is doing if his personal accounts not wiped out. As you say …LOL.

What happens with OTC shares, if there is a buyout offer?

I have one, where I cannot sell it and there is a buyout offer to be effective in one month

Dweller, You are always talking about how criminals control the system, but you fall into their hands. I think you are your worst enemy. Read Charlie Munger, avoid toxic situations. LOL! DT

You would think that , but I am a contrarian that looks for value and tries to ignore that the Corporate Mafia is trying to direct trades only to their fabricated markets. I have always been told by the experts that markets win out over corruption. I think We will find out in the near future and if the Criminals win, I will probably need a new country to live in like Iceland who locked up their bankers after the 2008 theft spree.

I said this pullback was a no-brainer buying opportunity and today we have strong reversals everywhere.

The Fed physicians are trying to calm the patient (The Markets) by issuing soothing words that there won’t be any surprises. I see nothing but clear, sunny skies, just look at the price of Gold it is levitating, and Silver is floating above the empyrean into the high blue yonder. Could this be “The Twilight Zone” for The Dollar! DT 😁

All my Schwab losses of 46 stocks focused in Emo. That play has been worn out.

Gold held up extremely well as the bond market melted down in recent years because the bond market is now in a secular bear market but both are going up from here as bonds pop up for air so the safe-haven winds are now at gold’s back.
The market is done with selling bonds for awhile which is why the Fed has no choice with respect to its next move. Simply, the market is cutting interest rates so the Fed will do the same, albeit with a lag.

My expectation worked out as silver bottomed right where it should have.
    From yesterday:
This is silver’s 7th straight lower close and I bet it will begin the day lower tomorrow before catching a strong bid.
Notice today’s bullish crossing of the 600 day exponential MA over the 600 day simple MA. The last time that happened was in September 2019.
